About Us

Blue Mountain Action Council

(BMAC) is a nonprofit 501C(3) agency governed by a Board of Directors representing the target population, private, and public sectors of the community. Eligibility for services is based on need as determined by income, employment status, education, family size, or other factors. BMAC services are contingent upon availability of resources. The majority of services are provided without charge. BMAC believes in equal opportunity and is a United Way Agency.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Blue Mountain Action Council is to work together with low-income people to achieve their self-sufficiency by providing vital, self-help techniques, advocacy and limited financial assistance. Blue Mountain Action Council accomplishes this mission by: mobilizing resources in the public, private and nonprofit sectors of the communities; creatively and effectively utilizing these resources to benefit low-income persons; promoting better understanding and improving relationships among the people of all economic and social levels; seeking to make governing bodies in Columbia, Garfield and Walla Walla counties more responsive to the cultures, needs and problems of their low-income residents; and participating in a network of community action agencies in Washington State and the nation.
