Legal Assistance
Blue Mountain Action Council provides help with legal questions through the Pro Bono Lawyer Referral Program.
Pro Bono services are for low-income families and individuals in Walla Walla and Columbia Counties who need help with non-criminal legal matters.
Access to this service can be through a referral from the Northwest Justice local office, C.L.E.A.R., a local advocacy agency in town (i.e. like the YWCA), or as a walk-in. Calling the state-wide toll free number for C.L.E.A.R. (Coordinated Legal Education Advice and Referral; http://www.nwjustice.org/what-clear ) is the quickest way to potentially speak with an attorney about your matter. If after trying for a week, you are unable to get through C.L.E.A.R. you may call the BMAC office to try to set up an appointment with the Pro Bono Coordinator. C.L.E.A.R. #: 1-888-201-1014
The staff person in charge of this program is Luis Rosales. His office hours are:
- All day Tuesdays (scheduled appointments);
- 8 am-1 pm Wednesdays and Thursdays;
- Out of the office - court on Fridays
Your patience is appreciated because this program is not designed as a “quick fix” – the call to C.L.E.A.R. can take upwards to an hour to complete and then you might have to wait from one to two weeks for an appointment with Luis.
