What's New?

The Barrel Full of Money fundraiser, to benefit our Food Bank, ended in mid-December. The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, in partnership with community businesses, attempted to fill a wine barrel with money. The Baker Boyer Bank took possession of the barrel, counted the money then made out a check to Blue Mountain Action Council for $2,031.86.

As the saying goes, “Everything old is new again.” We are happy to re-introduce a gleaning program into BMAC’s service area; the last one started in 1977.

Americorps VISTA volunteers, in partnership Rotary First Harvest, are working around the state to promote gleaning as a partial solution to food shortages and lack of fresh produce in food banks.

Walla Walla Community Harvest began in November of 2011 when Casi Christensen, an Americorps VISTA, came to BMAC. She spent the fall doing community outreach and education; she is now preparing for a full push toward harvest. To learn more or to become involved, click here or on the logo.
