Youth Job Training
Youth Job Training has been a vital part of BMAC for nearly all of its 44 year history. Though the acronyms have changed; CETA to JTPA to WIA, we’ve remained committed to improving employment opportunities for young people living in the Walla Walla Valley.
Blue Mountain Action Council’s Youth Employment Program targets eligible youth ages 16-21 to assist with pre-employment skills and educational achievement.
BMAC partners with local area business owners and non-profit agencies to provide real-world work experiences. The young people are also encouraged to get their high school diploma or GED then to pursue post secondary education or advanced skills training.
In addition to establishing eligibility, the individual must be assessed and selected for participation. Note: Documents that confirm an individual’s eligibility for WIA services will be required during the application process. Examples include but are not limited to: birth certificate, social security card, pay stubs, etc. Not all eligible applicants are entitled to selection for the WIA program. Selection is based on the individual level of need, and the appropriateness of the individual’s circumstances to receive services.
Note: Funding levels determine the number of young people we are able to enroll each year.
